Weekly Photo Challenge: Inside

This week’s photo challenge from the Daily Post is to share a photo that says “inside.” I did not want to go with the literal interpretation of that, mostly because I came up with too many “that’s what she said” jokes.

I’ve always been fascinated with trying to see things in the same way as someone else. Not in the way that it can be explained, but physically felt and understood completely. This is one of the things that interests me about photography. I’m always hoping to convey my feelings and thoughts through images. I chose to make this theme about what goes on “inside my mind.”

I love to go out on drives, especially on Sundays. It’s a great way to wind down the weekend, and clear your mind of the upcoming week’s “to dos.” I love to drive with the windows down (if possible), listen to some great music and enjoy the views. I love to drive on back roads where there aren’t a lot of cars, but a lot of great scenic sights. In Idaho we have a lot of farms. My favorite part about driving through the farms is the cooler air, the smells, and the feeling of peace that comes over you.

These particular photos were taken last Saturday when we had a wonderful late summer rainstorm coming through. Big fat raindrops fell from the sky, and the thunder growled above. I left the windows down, felt the wind against my face, and appreciated the cool drops. Lana Del Rey played loudly from the stereo, and I couldn’t be more at peace. Anytime I spotted a great photo op; I pulled over to the side road, turned on my hazards, and shot from the car window or got out and walked around. Either way I never got far enough to lose the sound of Lana’s voice.

I ended the trip next to the lake (photos of that later), watching the sun set. No one around but me, Lana, and a family fishing nearby; pants rolled up and enjoying the last days of summer, together.

Loved the look of the pavement after that rain!

  1. On my way to work last weekend, I saw a rainbow too. It was beautiful. It reminded me of the simple things that makes me happy like laughter, being around family, of bring close to nature, of driving or walking while listening to music. This post is a celebration of all things beautiful. Thanks.

    1. What a wonderful thing to say, you are so sweet! That’s exactly what I was trying to convey. It’s really the simple things that matter, and it’s nice to take a moment to stop and appreciate things like rainbows. 🙂
